The Sailor's Stories

with 28 comments

Taking a leaf out of the very good books of “Rent Boy” and “Twinergy”…, I have decided to start a discussion page of my own…., let’s see where it takes us.

Let me know how you feel, or if you have an idea…, do the characters fit? Do they seem a little strange…, just generally tell me what’s on your mind….

  1. What, I’m the first to post on the discussion page? Wow, usually I’m a day late and a dollar short on pretty much everything! Now if we can just get the other two to put a link up that would tell us a new chapter has been posted, instead of checking and hoping every day, only to be heartbroken and have to go through yet another day of withdrawals! I try to treat it like Christmas: you don’t know what’s in it ’till you open it!

Anyway, thanks again for the story! The last time I was this involved in a story was the “Left Behind” series. I would by a book, read it from cover to cover that night, and then patiently wait for the next book. And I don’t even call myself a christian. My friend calls me a “blasphemous gravy-sucking heathen pig”! Like I said before, thanks again for keeping me captivated!

  2. Discussion page…Hmmm…what to discuss….Well I love the story, and am waiting patiently (although going through withdrawls) for new chapters. I might have to go back and re-read it just so I can relive all the intense emotions CT has put them and us through. Not much else to say really, but again I love the story and am chomping at the bit for new chapters.

P.S. Hey CT (or anyone), if you’re bored and want something to do (which I doubt judging by your last post about work) check out my new blog. I put the story on hold and this is just a “normal” blog. Just click on my name. Peace.

  3. And so it begins…, well hopefully… hahahahaha!!

    Thanks for commenting guys.

  4. I know something we can discuss, CLIFFHANGERS! I hate them! It seems between Octavius, Tristan, and Cody I’m going to have a heart attack from all the stress and waiting. Chapter 42 ended better, but the last couple ones have had me sitting on the edge of my seat, with no nothing else to read. It really is killing me. But that’s the reason I keep coming back at least daily to check for new chapters. Very good writing technique, but very bad for my health.

Anyways, keep up the good work Octavius!

  5. I like the new title. It seems to fit now the series is complete. As far as cliff hagers go, It’s a tool. Most writers use it at one time or another when writing in a serial style. It could be argued that comparing your writing to Tristan or Cody is unfair. Different styles. Essentially, you related almost an entire year in the lives of your characters in 46 chapters while Tristan has only covered several weeks. Cody also for that matter. Nothing wrong with Tristan or Cody’s stories, just a differnt style. Your style is yours, CT. I can see where some of your style comes from. If you want to write, read. You have lot of Clancy in you; the way he balances action with the human side. Good stuff, CT. Keep it up.

  6. Hello CT, sorry to bother you here, but I have problem. Yesterday I tried to send comment on your last chapter, but nothing appeared. I thought it was some mistake so I posted it again, but once again, nothing appeared. I didn’t even get the usual subscribe mail from WordPress, even though I subscribed for follow-up comments. I thought there’s some bug either on Wordpess system or on your blog, so I let it be for that time. Today I tried to send that comment again and it told me it is duplicate comment. What the hell is going on here?

Anyway, in case you will not solve it and my comment will not appear at the appropriate place, here’s the comment I tried to post:
I can tell the change to third person really helped this story. The way you described Carl’s feelings was simply great. I must agree with Dave, the insight look to Carl’s thinking was wonderfull.
And Cam and Danny, that’s another great turn of events, though unlike Dave, I slightly expected it, since you already put some hints about dave in the story. Still expecting where things will go from now on with Cam and Danny. It may be really interesting.
Anyway, great chapter, but that cliffhanger is killing me. My life is definitely going to shorten with your and Cody’s cliffhangers 😦

  7. Right Octavius, i am linking this, i am on summer break, i have no excuse to not get stuck into reading this now.

Well, i do, im on holiday for two weeks but tht leaves me 5 weeks and i will get round to this.

If i don’t you can virtual slap me 😛

    June 23, 2010 at 11:55

    • Hey Rowan,

Thanks for dropping by kiddo. Enjoy your holiday mate.

  8. O.,

There’s something I’m curious about (maybe I’m just not as “worldly” as you are!). When you say you’re a “KIWI”, what does that mean? Are you from Australia, or, what’s the name of the island that “Lord of the Rings” was filmed in, or some “third world country”, like California? Like I said, just curious.

    June 25, 2010 at 14:54

    • Hahahaha…, I should wash your mouth out for calling me an Australian… hahahahaha!!!! (Sorry Stef)

Anyways…, no, I am not Australian, “Kiwi” is an endeared term for a New Zealander, as the Kiwi Bird, is our national icon. Although Aussies have the Platypus, Koala, and Knageroo…, they’re not cool enough for a sobriquet.

Yes the “Lord of the rings” was filmed in my country, and if you ever come over, I could probably give you a guided tour.

As it stands at the moment, NZ isn’t third world, it is technically first. Though it’s not far off of it, in my opinion.

Hope that clears things up for you.

  9. You have another blog? And here I thought you were down because of the World Cup?

  10. Richard:

I was reading you comment on chapter 13 of book 2, and am really glad you learned a powerful lesson. It is true, some people will not like you, for one reason or another. But that’s not your concern. It is better (and more beneficial) to cultivate the relationships (friend or otherwise) of those who accept you and forgive your faults, than to try to gain the acceptance of the masses. Quite frankly, it’s too damn much work. However, if you invest your time into those that don’t mind a screw-up or two (or 10 or 12), those relationships will last a good many years.

I don’t know if you remember, but I posted the lyrics to a song I wrote many, many years ago on either yours or DJ’s blog. If you do, try to remember the words. If you don’t, let me know, and I’ll either post them here, or send them to you somehow. It’s about how I firmly believe what a true friend is. They are words I try to live by.

But only a few get that special treatment. Sure, I have many “acquaintances”, but very few who I feel is worth investing time into. Even those change, though, because nothing is constant (besides death and taxes!). Close friends will change due to a change in interests, location, and so on. But new ones will take there place. The trick is to determining which ones are worth investing the time in.

Sorry, I’m off on tangents again (like a few others I’ve read!). I’m just glad your learning one of life’s lessons, and to keep trying.

    • Octavius told me to come read this that you write to me. If you want e-mail me just ask Octavius to give you my e-mail. I haven’t told Octavius yet but just tell him look here for it if I don’t get to tell him before you ask for it. Thanks, Richard

P.S. I don’t remember what you said now and I would like to know thanks

  11. Alright you guys (especially Kevin),

What is this “Nifty” I keep reading about, both here and on other sites (Sorry CT, but yours isn’t the only story I follow, though one of the most enjoyable!), and how do I get there? And (again Kevin) this story “Everything Will Turn Out Alright”? Since I’m on my winter lay-off from work, and the weather here is for the most part (and lack of a better term) shitty, I’m looking for more stories to read. The downside to that is, though, is that when I do get back to work, I’ll be more sleep deprived from keeping up on all of them! But I can live with that!

    January 24, 2011 at 20:59

  12. Hey Rick.

Nifty is a website that has hundreds, more like thousands, of gay stories on it. I originally found Twinergy on there, and subsequently this story from there. Everything Will Turn Out Alright is a story on there that I’ve been reading, as well as Octavius. If your looking for something to read while we ‘patently’ wait for new chapters here, check it out.

Hope this helps. And trust me, between this story, Twinergy, Rent Boy, Nifty, and some others, I don’t get much sleep. Which is why it’s 4:30 in the morning here.

    January 24, 2011 at 22:25

  13. Rick, once you go to Nifty’s site, hover over General Archive. Then select your main category, Bisexual, Gay Male, Lesbian…then select the sub category. Everything Will Turn Out Alright is under gay male, young friends. Hope this helps!

  14. Hey All:

Just tried to log onto Tony’s Red Flash blog, and it’s not there (at least what I had bookmarked for him). Anyone know what happened to it?

    March 11, 2011 at 13:55

  15. And now ‘a rent boy…’, the original begetter seems to have gone.

    Any clues?

    May 25, 2011 at 10:54

    • Not quite sure what you mean by that, but thanks for taking an interest.

      May 25, 2011 at 10:56

      • Hey Octa,

I think he’s referring to the fact that ‘…A Rent Boy’ is down. The site claims that the author deleted the blog, but who knows. Hopefully we’ll know what’s up soon.

        Hope you’re well!

        May 25, 2011 at 22:22

  16. Hmmm… yes I do see that now and nope, I totally have no clues. I saw the site a couple of days ago and there were lots of posts and links missing, so maybe he got the big threat about content. I dunno really, but it’s a bit of a shame. If anyone has the link to his Genesis children site, maybe they should check to see if that’s still there and if so, if it holds any clues.

    May 26, 2011 at 22:42

  17. OH SHIT!!! I just thought of something. Is WordPress starting some kind of “cyber-censorship”, or am I just being some kind of a paranoid conspiracy theorist?

    May 27, 2011 at 03:53

  18. Hey guys.

I just tried to get to the Genesis Children page, and it’s gone too. Not sure what’s going on. Anyone send T an email?

    May 27, 2011 at 07:36

    • I’m NOT a paranoid conspiracy theorist! WordPress IS cyber-censoring!!!! So much for our first amendment rights (for those of you who live in “the States”)!

      July 17, 2011 at 10:55

    • I tried sending him an email today, but it came back “undeliverable-email no longer exists”. I guess that’s it then.

      July 17, 2011 at 18:13

  19. Hey Octo- it has been a long time. Are you ok? I miss your story to.

    September 6, 2011 at 08:35

  20. Hey DJ!!!
Our dearly beloved Paddy (aka CT) is kinda down in the dumps. It’s winter time over there in the Land of Kiwi’s (the bird, not the fruit, although I don’t think there’s much of a difference!), so it’s this time of the year that he gets a little morose, or depressed. He’ll come back, though. At least he better or I’ll have to go over there and tie him to his chair until he gets with the program! You can join me if you like. But the only way I can afford to get there is via wind power (hope you like seafood!).

Hope this clears up any questions as to why the long absence. I think he’s just torturing us!!! Rick.

    September 6, 2011 at 12:20

  21. Hope all is well CT, you are an excellent writer, and hopefully things are well and you can continue to work on this story.
